So the end of the school year is inching closer! As we head towards the end of the school year things can go by really quickly and before you know it you are on summer break.
To avoid feeling rushed the last week of school with a ton of tasks and to make startup for the next school year easier, I've compiled a few different timelines you can use as a guideline to follow! Feel free to make changes where you need. By completing a couple tasks each week, you will be able to enjoy the last week with your class and make memories before you send them off for summer!
There is the Slow & Steady to Summer which will start approximately 8 weeks out from the year being over. There is the Fast & Furious finisher which will take about 4 weeks to complete. Go at your own pace to finish out the year!
Slow & Steady to Summer
8 weeks out
☐Check your markbook and see what expectations still need to be covered
☐Make a list of all the things you want to try or things you want to improve for next year so you don't forget your ideas...and maybe a list of things that didn't go as planned this year
7 weeks out
☐Have students complete a Learning Skills Self Reflection to be able to use personalized comments in your report cards
6 weeks out
☐Start learning skills for students (you can use my Inclusive Learning Skills Comment Builder to save you time!)
☐Start building report card comment bank
5 weeks out
☐FILING system - start filing and organizing Google Drive and papers - throw away and get rid of what is not necessary for next year. This is one I say I will always do over the summer but it never gets done...
☐Determine final grades
☐Complete 2-3 subject comments (tackle the easier ones first....Drama, Dance, Art, etc.)
4 weeks out
☐Start taking down bulletin boards
☐Classroom inventory check - what is left? what is needed for next year?
3 weeks out
☐Classroom PURGE - throw away things you no longer need
☐Teacher Cupboard Organizing (you know...the one you have been throwing stuff into all year...the teacher black hole....)
2 weeks out
☐Set aside a bin of first week activities - print and photocopy so you are ready to go in September
☐Draft your Meet the Teacher letter for next year
1 week out
☐Enjoy the last bit of time with your classroom family!
